  1. Well, i just spend 30 minutes Googling about Pyrex and i couldnt find anything about them shattering when you whisk in them so can you PLEASE explain what youre talking about Barry? i'm really worried now becaus i use Pyrex a lot.

  2. I'd love to see two versions of these, the one that is actually a 3 ingredient and the other amped up with all the good stuff!

  3. I think any thing used to cook a food (oil, butter, water) should be allowed and so should spices, and salt/pepper

  4. If you are craving banana muffins and do not have everything to make them BUT have a vanilla cake mix, 2 lg bananas, & cinnamon ….. Mash the bananas until they are liquid, add the dry cake mix and cinnamon to taste. Mix well. Fill muffin tins 3/4 full. Bake in preheated oven at 350' for 25-30 min or until toothpick comes out clean.

  5. "And Bob's your uncle" I have to go tell all my uncle's that they all shall be known to me collectively as Bob ๐Ÿ˜‚ Also, it's your show Barry, you get to decide what is an ingredient or change the guidelines as it suits you and I hope the nit picking in the comments about what words to use doesn't stifle your creativity because it's like you said if that's what their hung up on then this isn't the show for them, but I enjoy it dearly and appreciate all your work.

  6. First video I've ever watched of yours!
    Instantly subscribed.
    Love this video!
Cant wait to see the other videos.
    Keep up the hard work!

  7. the 3 ingredient rule should only apply to the food not the cooking plus salt n pepper dont count as an ingredient if for seasoning chefs dont class seasoning as an ingredient on the menu most times

  8. Personally, I believe "ingredients" should include necessary items or things you may not already have. For instance, water shouldn't count because everyone has it. Flour shouldn't count unless it is a special type of flour and is absolutely crucial to the recipe to use say cake flour over ap flour(because cake flour has added ingredients). Egg used for an egg wash shouldn't count, but egg used in an egg based dish should count because an egg based dish; ex being quiche – generally uses more than one egg and is the star or the show rather than being optional as an egg wash usually is(if that makes sense)

  9. also a vid idea maybe make a list of ingredients divide into groups n hav a vote for each group to choose 1 and make a meal using all ingredients consisting of 1-3 courses

  10. I find it funny that you allow flour as a staple in everyone's homes but not salt and pepper… ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Œ

  11. Use whatever you like.. 3 ingredients is not enough.. If you are making a hamburger with 3 things I wouldn't include the bun as an ingredient .. or else it would just be a meat patty and not a burger. Water an oil are freebies .. when frying or boiling, it's a tool not an ingredient. You wouldn't include the oven if you were baking would you ? Salt should be given a pass as well.
I would love to see you make a play list of dishes with no fewer than 10 ingredients. I have a recipe for Biscuits ( cookies , I'm American ) That has no less than 10 ingredients. I could send you my Spaghetti sauce recipe too. Something I would like you to try. A pressure cooker. I have one You can have a completely cooked roast in an hour. I have two pressure cookers, I will never use an oven to cook a roast ever again. Why wait 4 hours when you can have it in a hour, take it out and broil it in the oven for 10 minutes if you like it Browned on top. I love to cook vegetable soup But it take hours of boiling. Not in a pressure cooker, I just dump everything in and set it for 40 minutes. It has cut my cooking time down to 40 minutes instead of all day.

  12. You like to bend the rules a bit with the 3 ingredient thing so why not just make a new series with like 5 ingredient recipes or something instead, might be easier to stick to the rules then :p

  13. Please add basics! We all have them. The 3 ingredients should be the things you dont always have in your cupboards and have to go out and buy

  14. I really like risotto.
I think cupboard staples most people would have is fine.
I would be very interested in you cooking low in calorie foods/meals/puddings.

  15. I love these because I'm broke as a joke and these make meals that are easy and fairly quick with few ingredients. I can cook all of these kinds of foods in my tiny little kitchen. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Hey Berry, great video! But you look like you just got out of the hospital ; u have a shirt on that looks like a hospital gown and u have a bruise on your left arm. Everything okay buddy? ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Salt, pepper, water = allowed
Oil/butter – only for shallow frying! Should be an ingredient when deep frying.
    Flour, sugar = ingredients
I'd be happy for you to use icing sugar, herbs etc. for presentation/a garnish. You are on youtube after all!

I liked what someone else said, where you make two versions of a dish, one with just 3 ingredients (but water is definitely fine!), the other with more seasonings/embellishment or something to make it hold together better – will help out those of us who are less good in the kitchen, to know what else we might think about adding! ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Please can you do some recipes for us students that don't have ovens! (I only have a hob, kettle, toaster and a microwave)

  19. I wouldnโ€™t count flour as a staple ingredient in a kitchen, if u donโ€™t bake, flour is not rly needed in anything else. So I always have to go get flour when I need it

  20. I think that you should be able to use water and salt & pepper freely without counting them as an ingredient but butter, oil, flour, etc. is stretching it a bit. But, you make your own rules.

  21. Pyrex is indeed known for that.

The reason Pyrex is so durable, is basically that every time it absorbs an impact, it cracks internally, but the outer layer remains intact and holds everything together. Eventually, they reach a tipping point, where even the slightest disturbance will cause them to fail catastrophically, and the whole thing shatters. Pyrex doesn't break often, but when it does, its spectacular. Corningware and Correle dishes do the same thing,

  22. maybe you can do a dinner for four peeps for 5 pounds total (so 1.25 p.p), no more counting ingredients or if water and salt is one ;-). I used to do 3 course meals for 4pounds p.p

  23. Ok, I found you and you are streaking toward 1M subs. The fun you have is only the beginning. The cooking pointers are great and I particularly like the crab cakes and the Tart looked scrumptious as well. Great video.

  24. Water & Salt are not countable ingredients. Oil, if cooking in it, is like water for boiling. Eggwash is like cornmeal under bread to make it crisp up. Oil, butter, and flour for coating pans are also OK. Says the chef that loves your channel ๐Ÿฝ

  25. I was one of those who requested in the first series of 4321, that you would use cupboard ingredients. I like the idea a coup of others have suggested, use Masterchef cupboard/pantry rules.

  26. I think salt, pepper, water and oil minimum extras. But you could have butter, flour, sugar, icing sugar, other basic spices like mixed herbs, and eggs and I'd be ok with it. And milk!

  27. OMG, that risotto looks SOOOOOOOOOOO good… and the crab cakes! 'Homer Simpson Drooling'
I'm thinking I'm going to try these someday!

  28. The stuff that is under the bench on mystery boxes on Australian MasterChef are items in pretty much every kitchen cupboard so could probably be considered staples and not core ingredients, would allow more variance in dishes and allow you more freedom for interesting things.

  29. Maybe I am splitting hairs because I loved this, but I feel that "ready-made" pastry cannot really count as "one" ingredient!! What next – a complete ready-meal as one ingredient? A lot of the comments about "common" kitchen ingredients being acceptable, but didn't see anyone mentioning this.

  30. While I like the concept of cooking a three course meal plus Drink with limited ingredients, your current concept means that you need 12 ingredients in total. Yes I could only pick one to cook, but I don't think that's intended..?
So how about a 6-8 ingredients three course meal plus Drink?

  31. Absolutely love your videos, and totally agree there should be some cheat ingredients, stuff that everyone should have. Please keep the videos going as I am definitely going to try these with my kids, nice and easy for them to make aswell ๐Ÿ˜Š

  32. I think if youโ€™re using it to fry or knead dough itโ€™s not technically an ingredient, itโ€™s not in the recipe. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Definitely think water, salt and pepper arenโ€™t cheating though!

  33. I'm ok with you adding basic ingredients like water, butter, oil, flour and so on. (corn starch, sugar…basic pantry items)

  34. here is one of my favorite recipes , tater tots, bacon or sausage, eggs , in a baking dish so yummy. bake the tots first (until they are crispy) , add the cooked bacon or sausage ( cut up) then add the scrambled eggs bake for about 15 minutes. delicious . you can add salsa and cheese for extra yumminess . please try this recipe in a video .

  35. I'm am with the people in the comments on having a cheat ingredient list. Things like:
Butter ( but if you specifically need unsalted/salted for the recipe then it counts)
Oil ( a common type everyone would have or list the alternatives)
    Table/ kosher salt (nothing fancy)
    Black Ground Pepper
Sugar: in small quantity ( but only white– not brown or confectioners/ powder)
Flour: n small quantity (in the states most people by self raising- and I don't really know the difference- video Idea)
Any other seasoning would have to be polled on. I know most people have the basic Italian seasonings or garlic powder, onion powder, but its also based on ethic background.

  36. Free "ingredients"
    *Salt, pepper, water anytime.
*Oil/butter/cooking spray to saute, fry or to keep food from sticking to a cake pan/cookie sheet/muffin tin/etc only.
*Flour to keep a dough from sticking (on counter or in a cake pan).

  37. Itโ€™s called a Krabby Patty, itโ€™s an underwater version of a burger…though a bit morbid, given that the owner of the restaurant that serves them is a crab. ๐Ÿ™„

  38. The risotto sounds so good, but we don't allow mushrooms in the house since my husband is allergic to any mushroom. We both like mushrooms though.

  39. Please ad the things that you think that is needed for it to be perfect for you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰
Its not naughty to do cause they are in my mind not really ingredients of food items

  40. Your first cook is actually same from our recipe Jemput-jemput ( is a traditional Malays fritter snack from Southeast Asia, notably … Alternative names, Cekodok, or Cucur. Type, Snack) otherwised we fried them deep in oil until it brown and when we put it in oil by our fingers and its batter we put more water as a cake batter. Delicious to eat hot after frying during breakfast and teatime.

  41. If you dust that tart with icing sugar whilst the curd mixture is still hot, it will dissolve/disappear in the tart and remain only on top of the raspberries, for a very 10/10 professional look.
(you can make your own icing sugar in a blender of any kind, just put regular caster sugar in and give it a whizz. I use my coffee grinder for things like this, and have done for over 5 years :D)

  42. Those crab cakes are good, but even better (and far naughtier) with the addition of some brown shrimp. I have also made them with Crayfish tails, instead of crab, and brown shrimp, and lots of garlic instead of red pepper (I like red pepper, but it really, really doesn't like me, sadly). I want to try those cakes made with Mussels and Cockles, too.

  43. I think Barry should do episodes where he remakes some of his 3 ingredient recipes with no limits. He always talks about what you can add/what he would love to add so it would be great to see him make some

  44. It drives me crazy when youtubers change their vocab and pronunciation of words to suit complainy comments or fit in to an American audience. There's a richness in a variety of words and terms in English. Dont change Barry. Don't start speaking American.

  45. Vote like or dislike. Barry should allow salt, pepper, water, ice as a free item without getting a load of jip in the comments. Great videos Barry, greetings from a very cold Lancashire x

  46. Water, salt & pepper, frying oil, or an egg wash shouldn't count as ingredients. Put up a poll on your next 4 3.2.1 video and im sure I'd open up a world of flavor.

  47. You don't need to change the way you speak, it's who you are, and that's ok, people need to stop being so judgemental. I agree, seasoning, like salt and pepper shouldn't be part of the ingredient list

  48. Don't know if you'll see this comment but this week im going to try your"alfredo"sauce with egg noodles. Also going to do your crab cakes. Oh I can't wait
